GRADES 3–5 | ALTERNATING WEDNESDAYS, 5:00-6:30PM
Growing in Faith. Building Friendships. Rooted in Christ.
The elementary school years are an important time for children to begin discovering who they are, building friendships, and developing the foundations of their faith.
That's where ROOTED comes in!
ROOTED is Holy Family Parish's Catholic children's ministry for students in Grades 3–5. Our goal is to help children grow in their faith, learn more about Jesus, and begin building a strong foundation for a lifelong relationship with God.
Through games, engaging teachings, hands-on activities, small groups, and prayer, ROOTED introduces children to the beauty of our Catholic faith in a way that is fun, welcoming, and appropriate for their age.
Whether your child is already excited about their faith or is just beginning to discover it, ROOTED is a place for them to learn, grow, and belong!
What Happens at ROOTED?
Every ROOTED night is designed to help children grow in their faith while having fun, making friends, and discovering what it means to follow Jesus.
Gather & Games - We begin each night with music, games, and fun activities that help children get to know one another, build friendships, and feel welcome.
Faith & Formation - A short, age-appropriate teaching introduces the night's theme, helping children discover more about Jesus, Scripture, and the Catholic faith in a way they can understand and relate to.
Small Groups & Activities - Children break into smaller groups with their leaders to explore the topic through discussions, creative activities, and hands-on learning. These moments help children ask questions, express themselves, and begin connecting what they've learned to their everyday lives.
Prayer & Encounter - We conclude with an opportunity for children to spend time with God through simple, meaningful prayer activities that introduce them to different ways of praying and help them begin developing a personal relationship with Jesus.
And of course, there's always time for a snack!
Planting Seeds of Faith That Last a Lifetime
At ROOTED, we believe that helping children grow in their faith is about more than simply teaching them prayers or Bible stories. It's about helping them come to know Jesus, experience His love, and recognize that they have a place in the Church.
Our dedicated team of leaders works to create a welcoming environment where every child feels known, valued, and encouraged to grow.
Through positive relationships, age-appropriate faith formation, and opportunities to encounter Christ, we hope to plant the seeds of a faith that will continue to grow long after children leave ROOTED.
We also recognize the important role that parents play as the first and primary educators of their children in the faith. ROOTED is an opportunity to support families in that mission by helping children discover the joy of living their Catholic faith alongside others their age.
Our hope is that every child leaves ROOTED knowing three things: God loves them, they belong to His Church, and they are called to grow in a relationship with Him.
A Place to Grow, Learn, and Belong
ROOTED is designed specifically for children in Grades 3–5, helping bridge the gap between early childhood faith formation and our EDGE youth ministry for middle school students.
As children grow, so do their questions, their understanding of the world, and their ability to take ownership of their faith.
ROOTED provides a space where they can begin that journey in a supportive community, surrounded by friends and leaders who encourage them to grow closer to Christ.
For children who continue into EDGE in Grade 6, ROOTED also helps establish friendships and a sense of belonging within the parish that can carry forward into their teenage years.
