The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal organization of more than 1.8 million men working and contributing to their churches and communities.

Founded in 1882 by a small group of men in the basement of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut, this group bound together to protect and defend the Church and its clergy, to fight for the rights of persecuted Catholics, to provide assistance to families in difficulty and to care for widows and children of families whose wage-earner had died.  Today the Knights of Columbus is one of America`s largest insurance organizations with $80 billion in force providing disability, retirement and death protection for members and their families.

Guided by its principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism, the Knights of Columbus continues to practice the objectives of its founders.

The Knights of Columbus is organized into local councils, usually based in our parish churches. In Bolton, the council in Holy Family Church is named Father Henk van den Berg Council 10614, in honour of our former parish pastor and founding Chaplain.
