On June 4, 2024, St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica hosted a Mass of Thanksgiving on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of Philippines-Canada Diplomatic Relations. Archbishop Francis Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto presided at the celebration, expressing his gratitude for the incredible contributions made by the Filipino community in the Archdiocese of Toronto.

The gathering drew members of the Filipino community from across the Greater Toronto Area, including Consul General Angelica C. Escalona, who also expressed her thanks to those who now call Canada home, highlighting the importance of faith and family for the Filipino community, with many newcomers identifying a local Catholic Church as one of their first tasks upon arrival in Canada.

We give thanks for the faithful commitment to the Catholic Church made each day by the Filipino community, sharing the joy of our faith with others and ensuring it is passed to down from one generation to the next.
